Hilke

Jann u. Antke Flessner
gest. den 5.April 1890
Im Alter von 22 Jahren, 1 Mo, 7 Tage

St. John's Revelations 5, Verse 5

(It is seen) that (death) has overcome her and so on.
Blessings on our child.  We will all follow (her) as
soon as God wants (us) to and so on.
(An interpretation.)
The German abbreviation u.s.w.
for und so weiter means "and so on".

At base of stone, A. Heitert or Herrgot, Falls City, Neb

translation:

Hilke  (Hilda)
daughter of
Jann and Antke (Johann/John and Annie)
died on the 5th (of) April 1890  (gest. = gestorben)
at the age of
22 years, 1 month, 7 days

Note from T. Maureen Schoenky:
These are written in Fraktur (broken letters), also called the Gothic font, not in Schrift, but the bottom portion is just illegible, except for a couple of letters which are in the darkened portion - is this darkened part from from water?  Maybe that would work for the rest of it.   The old European-born people often engraved birthplaces on American tombstones - or perhaps this is a religious saying or poem.   My intuition says a Bible verse - on the right-hand side,  5. v. 5 perhaps?

My interpretation of the upper portion:

Hilke (Koseform or Kosename for Hilda)
Tochter von - daughter of

__a__n.   This is an abbreviation, but I don't recognize that as Johann.
u. (and) Antke (Antje?)
Flessner
gest. (gestorben - died)
den - the
5. April 1890
Im alter von - at the age of
22 Jahren (years) 1 (or 19?) (months) 7 Tage (days)   I think it's 22 years, 1 month, 7 days.

Flessner appears to be of Slavic origin - towards the east and south.    It may be an Anglicized version.
