Tarkio City - ...the saddest of all was the death of Hughey son of Mr and Mrs J.H. Davis, aged 9 years. Death stepped in Sunday morning the 26th ult., and claimed him. He had been suffering for the past two weeks with that dread disease diphtheria, and was to all appearances better, but was taken suddenly worse Saturday night, and died Sunday morning at 9 o'clock. Little Birdie was a very sweet litttle girl. Although she was of tender years her death was triumphant. A short time before her spirit fled she sang with her parents part of the hymn, "Suffer the Children to come unto me." Oh, how truly did Jesus permit this little one "to come unto Him." Little Albert was a bright little boy, and bore his great affliction with marked patience. He knew he was going to die and asked to be buried with his sister Birdie. He folded his little hands across his breast and passed from his weeping parents on earth to his dear Redeemer and rejoicing sister in the brighter world on high.
Little Herbert was a very promising child indeed, but death had claimed the opening flowers of the family and now must pluck the tender bud.
