Carder, Judith Aileen, passed away at the Hamburg hospital on Monday morning of bronchial pneumonia. Little Judith was born Jan 20, 1944 and was only 2 months and 14 days old. She leaves to mourn her passing her parents Mr and Mrs Byron Carder, and a sister, Clara Ann Carder, her grandparents Mr and Mrs Richard Carder of Auburn, Mr and Mrs Leon Garst of Watson and many other relatives. Short services were held at the home and also at the High Creek church Tuesday afternoon and she was laid to rest in the cemetery of that place. Services were conducted by Rev A.W. Tandy.

Clara Ann Carder has spent the past several days at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs Charles Garst.

Miss Janet Carder of Omaha, came Monday to attend the funeral of her niece. Mr and Mrs Richard Carder also came over Monday.

Carlson, Earl E.
Earl E. Carlson, 81, of Westboro, Mo., died April 1, 2000 at the Fairfax Community Hospital, Fairfax, Mo. He was born May 14, 1918 in Raymond, Neb., to Frederick and Annie (Fairchild) Carlson. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He married Louise M. Stotts Dec. 26, 1958. He was a farmer in the Westboro area.
Mr. Carlson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack, Herman, Sture and sisters, Olga Newman and Nora Ogorzolka.
Survivors include his wife, Louise of the home; daughter, Linda Jean Carlson of Westboro, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Merriett of Westboro, Mo.; two granddaughters, two sons from previous marriage, Earl Eric Carlson, Jr. of California, Mo., and James Lee Carlson of Urbandale; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Warren Carlson of Sterling, Colo.; sisters, Sigurd Bmsh of Longview, Wash, and Ruth Benz of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Memorial services were April 4 at the First Baptist Church, Tarkio, Mo., with the Rev. Glenn Scott officiating. Burial was in the Center Grove Cemetery near Westboro, Mo. Carlson, Linda Jean, the daughter of Earl Eric and Marilyn Louise (Stotts) Carlson, was born October 13, 1960 in Maysville, Missouri. She attended school in Tarkio, Missouri, graduating from Tarkio High School in 1980. Linda then attended Platte College, Citadel Health Care, both in St. Joseph, Missouri and Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, Iowa, earning Secretary/Clerk/Typist and Certified Nurse’s Assistant certifications. She later received her Licensed Practical Nursing diploma in 1993.

Linda entered the United States Army in 1983, where she proudly served her country until her honorable discharge. Upon returning home, she was employed at several nursing homes in the northwest Missouri and southwest Iowa area. Linda was a member of the Merrill-Smith American Legion Auxiliary, Westboro, and First Baptist Church, Tarkio. Linda passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Shenandoah, Iowa Memorial Hospital, at the age of 47 years.

Besides her grandparents, Linda is preceded in death by her father, Earl. She is survived by her mother, Louise; sister Brenda Merriett and her fiancé Jason Jones Rosendale, Missouri ; half brothers, Rick Carlson, California, Missouri and Jim Carlson, Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, Erica and Sarah Merriett, Tarkio; ex-brother-in-law David Merriett, Tarkio; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Carmine, Frank - The sudden death of a relative, Frank Carmine, of a Clarinda [Iowa] family, took place at Valley Falls, Kans., Saturday, Feb 7, 1920, at 2:30 pm. Mr Carmine was the husband of a sister of Mrs C.L. Beech of this city. Mrs Carmine before her marriage was Miss Minta Smith. Mr Carmine was taken ill only the morning of the days he died. Two physicians were summoned, one of whom attributed the death to pressure on the brain. Besides his wife, two sons survive Mr Carmine--Dale, a student of the Kansas State agricultural college at Manhattan, Kans., and Arnold, who is finishing his work as a student in the Valley Falls high school. The late Mr Carmine was 46 years of age and by occupation a farmer. The funeral was held Tuesday at Fairfax, Mo. Mr and Mrs C.L. Beech went from this city to attend it. Mrs Beech went on crutches, not having sufficiently recovered from her accident to go without them.

Carroll, Helen Lucille Sliger, the daughter of Guy O. and Fae M. (Melvin) Sliger was born February 16, 1924 in Rock Port, Missouri. Helen attended Rock Port Schools graduating with the class of 1941.

On July 4, 1943, Helen was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Carroll, Sr. at the First Christian Church in Rock Port. They became the parents of two sons, Donald, Jr. and Richard.
Helen and Don made their home in Los Angeles, California and were both employed by American Airlines for more than 20 years. They were blessed to have “traveled the world”, spending time in numerous countries such as; England, France, Germany, Bavaria, Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Spain, China and Hong Kong, and many others. Helen and Don later lived in Arizona, where at the age of 65, enjoyed riding motorcycles in the desert. They owned a travel trailer and pulled it through out the United States, and also enjoyed fishing in the Northwestern parts of the country. It was an adjustment getting used to staying home following their move back to Rock Port. Helen passed away August 2, 2007 at her home in Rock Port at the age of 83 years. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church, Rock Port and was baptized November 29, 1931 by Pastor Dessie Grace Pilalas. She was also a former member of the Rock Port 440 Order of Eastern Star.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Donald Carroll, Sr., two sons, Donald Carroll, Jr., and his wife Alicia, and Richard Carroll, all of Rock Port; two granddaughters, Teresa Carroll, Kansas City, Missouri and Donna Carroll, St. Joseph, Missouri; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Dawn; sister, Shirley Keller and her husband, Larry, Carson City, Nevada.

Carter, Evelyn J. "Grandma" Carter, 85, Barnard, died Friday, Aug 15, at Maryville Health Care.

Born Jan 14, 1912, to James Russell Loyd and Minnie Lenora Gaskill Brewer, she married Homer Oscar Carter, who later preceded her in death, Dec 9, 1930, in Rock Port [Missouri].

Mrs Carter was a retired Northwest Missouri State University and South Nodaway cook.

She was a member of the Barnard Christian Church, Barnard; and O'Howell Strader American Legion No 102 Auxilliary, Barnard.

Mrs Carter was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, Betty Moffet; two brothers, Loyd and Hilary Brewer; one daughter, Mary Sybert; and one great-grandchild, Benjamin Elkins.

Survivors include one son, Donald Ray Carter, Barnard; one daughter, Genevieve Wales, Agency, Mo; three sisters, Colleen Montgomery of Independence, Mo, Neva Dean Prater of Kansas City, Mo, and Lenora Graves of Kansas City, Mo; 17 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.

Chambers, Larry Ralph, the son of Ralph and Catherine (Pocius) Chambers, was born March 17, 1939 in Tarkio, Missouri. He attended Bartlett Country School and Tarkio High School. Larry joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in active duty and the reserves from 1956 – 1962.

After receiving his honorable discharge, Larry returned to Tarkio where he owned and operated two businesses in Rock Port, and was employed by Missouri Beef Packers. He then became the owner-operator of a tractor-trailer, hauling throughout the United States. He later drove over the road for Diversified Chemical Company out of Joliet, Illinois, until ill health forced his retirement in 1996. In 1998 he returned to Tarkio, where he lived to the present time. Larry enjoyed spending time at the Tarkio Nutrition Center, where he ate lunch, delivered meals, served in the dining room, called bingo, visited with friends and played a lot of cards. Larry also worked as the center’s handy man, staying on top of any need. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Larry was a member of the Suburban Teamsters Union of Northern Illinois Local #179, Chicago, Illinois, and the American Legion.

Besides his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Chambers and brother-in-law Tom Struble. Survivors include his daughter and son, Melisse Goff, and Scott Chambers of Prescott Valley, Arizona; three grandchildren, Kelsey, Hunter and Sylvan; brother Darrell Chambers and his wife Sheri, Sioux City, Iowa; sisters, Jeanne Struble, Galesburg, Illinois, Carolyn McEnaney and her husband Don, Tarkio, Bev Christians and her husband Dennis, Rock Port, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clement, Bobby Virgil, the son of Albert Virgil and Vera Mae (Emery) Clement was born December 20, 1939 in Westboro, Missouri. Bob attended Westboro High School, graduating in 1958.

Bob was a member of the Iowa National Guard in Shenandoah, Iowa from 1955 to 1959. Bob had worked for the Tucker Funeral Home in Westboro, and the Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio, Missouri. He also worked in the Ambulance business and for the Westboro Volunteer Fire Department. In 1972 he moved to Rock Port. Bob was then employed as a contract groundman for Great Plains Contractors, Butler, Missouri. He worked in the area changing poles and other contract groundwork for Atchison Holt Electric, Rock Port, until an accident forced his retirement. For 31 years Bob has been cared for by his loving friend Lorraine Moore. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Bob passed away May 12, 2007 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri at the age of 67 years.

Beside his parents Bob is preceded in death by a daughter, Lea Deann Clement. Survivors include Lorraine of their home, Rock Port; Lorraine's family; one brother, Christopher Eugene Clement, California; one aunt Enid Anderson, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Collins, Bill B., son of John C. and Mary Margaret Ozenbaugh Collins, was born near Watson Aug. 24, 1926. He died Oct. 24, 1993, at his home, at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 28 days.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
On Sept. 28 he was united in marriage to Mary Langston.
He was a retired truck driver, and was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the Eagles Club of Hamburg.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Terry Collins.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Hamburg; stepson James of Stuart; a step-grandson; four brothers, Ben Collins of Hamburg, Everett of Council Bluffs, Jack Collins of Nebraska City and John Collins of Colorado; other relatives and friends.

Cook, William J. B. "Bill" , Jr., of Rock Port, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 6, 2006 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Survivors include wife, Ardith of the home in Rock Port; five sons, Dale Cook, Houston, Texas; Stan Cook, Norfolk, Nebraska; Keith Cook, Clarinda, Iowa; Keven Cook, Huntsville, Alabama; Rob Cook, Norfolk; 8 grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Bills, Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, Bob Cook, Ocean View, Delaware.

Cooper, Fay Edith, the daughter of Fred and Rosena (Mensen) Cooper, was born November 22, 1914 in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended the West Bend Country School, and Caster’s Beauty Academy in St. Joseph, Missouri. After passing the Missouri State Board and becoming a licensed beautician, she worked for a short time at a salon in Rock Port.

In 1947, Fay moved into Rock Port, along with her parents. She was employed as a telephone operator for a number of years, until the company went to a dial system. In later years, Fay worked in sales in local Rock Port businesses.

Fay was baptized at a young age, and later became a confirmed member of the First Lutheran Church of Rock Port. She truly enjoyed her church work. Fay also loved her flowers and they made her home a “very showy place”. Her house plants thrived on her tender loving care. Fay enjoyed playing the piano and organ, and did beautiful crochet work. She lived in her home on Calhoun Street until she entered Pleasant View Nursing Home in December of 2002. Fay passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the nursing home at the age of 93 years

Besides her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Orba and Arthur Rosenbohm; and one infant niece. Survivors include numerous cousins.

Cox, Kelly Clione, 15, of Westboro, Mo, died Thursday, Dec 2, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident south of Shenandoah. Kelly was born July 26, 1984, in Portland, Ore to Michael C. and Yvonne Clione (Kirkpatrick) Cox. She attended elementary school in Toledo, Ore, Fairfax, Mo and Tarkio, Mo and was presently a freshman at Tarkio High School. Kelly was an excellent student. She played the clarinet and flute in band and sang in the chorus. She enjoyed and participated in track, basketball and softball. She was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and was serving as treasurer. She had just been accepted in the Upward Bound program at Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, Mo. Kelly attended the Fairfax Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Tarkio. During the summer, she assisted with Vacation Bible School at the Westboro United Methodist Church.

Miss Cox was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Everett and Sandra Kirkpatrick and paternal grandmother Barbara Jean Cox.

Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Luke and Bryan Cox of the home; paternal grandfather Frank Cox of New Port, Ore; and paternal great-grandmother Dollie Kirkpatrick, of Fairview, Ore.

Memorial services were Tuesday, Dec 7 at the Tarkio High School gymnasium with the Rev Marcia Gilbert and the Rev Glenn Scott officiating. Casket bearers were Michael Cox, Jerry Kirkpatrick, Luke Cox, Berry Kirkpatrick, Ed Boyer and Bryan Cox. Interment was in the Center Grove Cemetery in Westboro, Mo. Crabtree, Mark - .    Mark Crabtree, the nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Crabtree, of near Watson, passed away at his home on Monday of this week.  [Nov 1, 1918]

Criger, Denny E., the son of Ray E. and Luella E. (Osborne) Criger, was born on August 2, 1948 in Auburn, Nebraska. He attended Auburn High School.

On September 25, 1972, Denny was united in marriage to Georgia McAfee in Auburn. They soon moved to Liberal, Kansas where Denny was employed by National Beef, and their first child, Candy was born. They then returned to Auburn where Denny was employed by the EXCEL Beef Plant in Rock Port, Missouri. Their son Clint was also born during this time. In the late 1970’s they moved to Brownville, Nebraska, where Denny organized the first ever little league football team, the Brownville Badgers! It was at this time, Denny also became interested in the history of Brownville and Nebraska. In 1983, Denny and Georgia moved to Rock Port, Missouri where they lived to the present time. Following the close of EXCEL, Denny became employed at Con-Agra in Hamburg, Iowa. Approximately eight years ago Denny became disabled. He used the time to become an avid reader and learn more history.

Denny was a loyal follower of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He loved reading and watching old movies, but his greatest love was his grandchildren. He was a gentle grandpa whose grandchildren had him wrapped around their fingers. Denny also enjoyed driving with his mother throughout the countryside, while listening to Husker football games on the radio.

Besides his parents, Denny is preceded in death by a brother, Orville (Bus) Rhoades.

Survivors include his wife Georgia, of their home in Rock Port; two daughters, Jennifer Nichols, Auburn, and Candy Jennings and her husband Kurt, Wilmington, North Carolina; one son, Clint Criger and his wife Holly, Rock Port; six grandchildren, Cal Nichols, Sean, Corielle and Ryan Jennings, and Trejan and Cayden Criger; one sister, Franny Scott, Auburn; brother-in-law Gene McAfee, Maryville, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Culver, Loren D., Jr., the son of Loren D. Sr., and Mureill E. (Scott) Culver, was born in Pickering, Missouri on May 4, 1927. He attended the Nodaway County country schools, graduating from Clearmont High School, Clearmont, Missouri in 1945.
Upon graduation, Loren entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946.

On July 5, 1945, Loren was united in marriage to Phyllis I. Hackett in Leavenworth, Kansas. They began farming in the Clearmont and Burlington Junction, Missouri areas and also on the Missouri side of Blanchard. In 1994, Loren and Phyllis moved into Westboro, but continued to have livestock until 1996. In September of 2007, they moved to Cameron, where Loren resided at the Missouri Veteran’s Home. He passed away at the Veteran’s Home on November 15, 2007 at the age of 80 years.

Loren was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa and a member of the Lion’s Club of Westboro, Missouri for 38 years. He enjoyed woodworking, tending to his livestock, fishing and being outdoors. Loren especially loved his family.

Besides his parents, Loren was preceded in death by one grandson, Lee Culver. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of the home, Cameron; one son Larry and his wife Julie, Crete, Nebraska, one daughter Cheryl Bell and her husband Richard, Valley, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Tony Bell, Nicole League, Nicolas Bell, Ross Bell, Tara Culver and Jason Culver; three great-grandchildren, Erica and Derek League and Brock Renter.

Currie, Dorothy May Moore, the daughter of Ray and Alma (VanLeuven) Moore was born August 19, 1925 in rural Tarkio, Missouri. Dorothy graduated from Tarkio High School and attended two years at Tarkio College. She then moved to California to work toward the war effort during World War II.

On February 11, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to John Edward Currie at the United Presbyterian Church in Tarkio. They soon after moved to John's grandfather's family farm, Northwest of Tarkio where they raised their family and farmed as a family. They were also avid antique buffs and enjoyed traveling. Dorothy lived on the farm to the present time. John passed away in 1999.

Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and generous lady who enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Tarkio First Christian Church. She had served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Christians Women's Fellowship. She was also a former Girl Scout leader, mentor and volunteer in the Tarkio Elementary School. Following John's death she enjoyed traveling on bus tours with the Neihart Family Travel Tours, literally seeing a large part of the country on these "Adventures and Mystery Trips". Dorothy and her beloved dog, Little Bit, also enjoyed taking friends on sight seeing excursions. She enjoyed to continue to care for her peacocks that lived on the farm. As Dorothy became ill she had made it clear to her family and Pastor Dave, that she was looking forward to her "going home" to be with the Lord and reunited with John. Dorothy passed away March 19, 2007 at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 81 years.

Survivors include one son Robert Ray Currie and Shannon, one daughter and her husband Patricia and Dean Rolofson, all of Tarkio; three grandchildren, John Robert Currie, Tyler Rolofson and Heather Thonston; one great-grandson Wyatt Currie; one niece, Donna Payne, Tarkio and one cousin and his wife Bob and Betty VanLeuven, Tarkio.

Besides her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Fox and Marjorie Howell.

Campfield, Edward Elvin Sr - Edward Elvin Campfield, Sr., the son of Ernest Leroy and Virgie Mae (Bent) Campfield, was born August 22, 1930 in Oakwood, Missouri. He graduated from Monroe City High school, Monroe, Missouri in 1948.
On March 11, 1950, Ed was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Parrish in Hannibal, Missouri. He was employed at a machine shop and also a tool manufacturing and sheet metal worker while they resided in Hannibal. Ed manufactured fishing lures while residing in Blue Springs, Missouri and worked as a home remodeler through the years. He was a member of the Rock Port Baptist Church, Rock Port, Missouri. Ed passed away Monday, Mach 8, 2010 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 79 years.
Besides his parents, Ed is preceded in death by a son, Shawn Edward Campfield. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home in Rock Port; six sons, Edward E. Campfield, Jr. and his wife, Margaret, Leeton, Missouri, Charles E. Campfield, Sr. and his wife, Deborah, Elk City, Kansas, Mark S. Carder, Sharen Dawn Watts - Sharen Dawn Carder, was born August 1,1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Bryan Raud and Doris Markland Watts. Sharen passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on August 22, 2009 at the age of 66, following a six month battle with Acute Leukemia.

Sharen spent her early childhood years in St. Joseph. At the age of 8, following her father’s death in 1952, the family moved to Fortescue, Missouri, where she finished her elementary years in the Fortescue grade school. She attended Craig High School, graduating in 1961. Sharen was a member of the First Methodist Church at Fortescue.

She married Vernon Eugene Carder in February, 1961 and to this union three children were born, Kirbi Eugene in 1962, Kevin David in 1963 and Karen Dawn in 1968 .

Sharen was adopted by her stepfather, Quentin Goolsby in 1982 .

Sharen was employed at Community Hospital in Fairfax and Robert McCrory Insurance Agency in Mound City, Missouri. During the past several years, Sharen worked as a receptionist at the Fairfax Medical Clinic for Dr. James Hunter, and currently for Dr. Emerson Ireland. Her years of employment were spent in public service, where she met and retained many friends and acquaintances.

Sharen attended the United Methodist Church in Fairfax, had a strong faith and had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, which was demonstrated by her strength and perseverance during her illness. She was extremely devoted to her family and was a true friend to many.

Sharen is preceded by her father, Bryan R. Watts; paternal grandparents, Raud and Ola (Morton) Watts, maternal grandparents, Leon and Helen (Hinkle) Markland; stepfather, Quentin Goolsby and grandson, Nicholas Eugene Carder.

She is survived by her sons, Kirbi Eugene Carder, and his wife, Andrea, Rock Port, Missouri, Kevin David Carder, and his wife, Jolene, Tarkio, Missouri, daughter, Karen Dawn Burke, and her husband, Scott, Fairfax; grandchildren, Quentin and Marisa Carder, Elias, Trystan, MaKenna, Joey, and Ryan Carder, McKale, Daltyn and Darian Burke; mother, Doris Virginia Goolsby, Rock Port; sister, Karen Vawn Wanamaker, and her husband, Dr. John, Hamburg, Iowa; nephews, Brian and Shawn Ireland, Kansas City, Missouri and Steven Ireland, Omaha, and a host of friends.

Carroll, Donald Eugene Jr - Donald Eugene Carroll, Jr. the son of Donald E. Carroll, Sr. and Helen Lucille (Sliger) Carroll, was born May 21, 1946 in Hamburg, Iowa. He received his high school diploma in 1963 from Buena High School, Ventura, California, and earned his Associate of Arts Degree at Ventura Junior College, Ventura, in 1965. Don also attended the University of California, Berkley for 2 years.

Don enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. While aboard ship, Don served as Deck Yeoman and Dispersing Clerk. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Don spent time traveling the world; he visited Western Europe, Japan, Amsterdam, Spain, Australia, and London. Don also enjoyed time spent in the Swiss Alps with Don Sr. and Helen.

On November 10, 1979, Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alicia Ruano. They made their home in California, spending lots of time in Manhattan Beach and Las Vegas, where you could always find him having a good time with his family, being a wonderful, loyal father and husband. He touched everyone he came across, gaining long lasting friendships and amazing memories along the way. In the summer of 1994, they moved to Rock Port knowing a small town life would benefit their daughters, Teresa “Teri” and Donna Michelle. Don was active in local and civic affairs.

He was a member of the North Star Masonic Lodge #157 AF & AM, Rock Port and American Legion Post # 542 in California. Don never missed watching his daughters in their extracurricular activities, cheering them on as the proud dad that he was. Don enjoyed spending time in his office filled with all types of books, seeking knowledge and always willing to engage in an intellectual debate. He loved listening to music and working on his passion of coin and stamp collecting and genealogy. But nothing made him happier than spending time with his little granddaughter, Ali who calls him “Pa”, and sharing time with his “Sweetheart” Alicia playing double solitaire. Don passed away March 4, 2009 at his home in Rock Port at the age of 62 years.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Helen. He is survived by his wife, Alicia of their home in Rock Port; two daughters, Teresa “Teri” Carroll and son-in-law, Christopher Grawe, Kansas City, Missouri, and Donna “Michelle” Carroll, and son in law, Derrick Pritt, St. Joseph, Missouri; one granddaughter, Alyssa “Ali” Pritt, St. Joseph; father, Donald E. Carroll, Sr. and brother, Richard Carroll, both of Rock Port, and his two best friends, who were like brothers, Mike Allen and Set.

Choate, Myna "Colleen" Winstead - Myna Colleen Choate, the daughter of Ralph Douglas and Mildred Bertha (Meyer) Winstead, was born in Westboro, Missouri on October 31, 1936. She passed away Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Community Hospital in Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 70 years.

Colleen attended school at Westboro and received her high school diploma in 1954. After graduating, she entered the United States Marine Corps and proudly served her country until her honorable discharge on July 6, 1957.

On June 8, 1957, Colleen was united in marriage to Robert Choate, Jr. in California. To this union, three sons were born. They were later divorced.

Colleen worked in Omaha, Nebraska and was employed as a machine operator for the Purex Soap factory and as a press operator for the Colonial Printing. She retired following a job-related injury.

Colleen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Westboro, the Eagles Club in Omaha, and was a Union Steward for the Graphic Communications International Union.

Colleen is survived by her mother, Mildred Winstead, Tarkio; three sons, Robert Wayne and Deborah J. Choate, Blair, Nebraska, Gary Lynn and Jolene K. Choate, Omaha, Nebraska, Daniel Joseph Choate, Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Robert Shawn, April Dawn, August Lee, Adrian Lynn, Renea Lynn, Falon Rae; one great-grandchild, Calissa Yanae; three sisters, Sandra Henning and husband Virgil, Tarkio, Barbara Hamilton and husband John, Northridge, California, Connie Quimby and Joe, Tarkio, Missouri; brother Terry Winstead and wife Julie, Westboro, and sister-in-law Bonnie Winstead, Sheridan, Missouri.

Colleen is preceded in death by her father, Ralph, who passed away in June of 1970, one brother Wayne, who passed away in January of 2005, three nephews and one niece.

Clapp, Grace Annabelle Sauder - Grace Annabelle (Sauder) Clapp, the daughter of Ralph and Mina (Peres) Sauder, was born on May 13, 1915 near Gridley, Kansas. She was raised in Burlington, Kansas where she attended the Burlington Schools, graduating in 1933. For the next five years, she was employed as a clerk.

On February 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Orville L. Clapp in Emporia, Kansas. Grace and Orville spent most of their married life farming in the Burlington community. They became the parents of two sons; Donald and Kenneth Clapp. In later years, she was employed by Giesy Clothing Store, where she enjoyed interacting with people. Grace and Orville spent several winters in Arizona, and also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Arizona with their children, grandchildren and other relatives. They moved into Burlington from their farm, west of town, to retire. Orville passed away on May 22, 1988. In 2002, she moved to Tarkio, Missouri to live closer to her son, Kenny and his family. She was very proud of her family, and they were precious to her. Grace passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Community Hospital – Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 28 days.

Grace was a former member of the Burlington Christian Church, the Senior Citizens and many card clubs. She was a volunteer at the Coffey County Museum and the nursing home. Grace had a special place in her heart for the people living there; sharing her flowers, reading, and helping with crafts. Grace was also a member of the Tarkio Christian Church.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orville; one brother, Everett Sauder; and one sister, Irene Williams. She is survived by her two sons, Donald Clapp and wife, Louise, of Aguilar, Colorado, and Kenneth Clapp and wife, Joy, of Tarkio, Missouri; four grandchildren, Mike Clapp and wife, Keitha, Becky Murdock, and husband, Eddie, Ryan Clapp and wife, Dori, and Robbie Clapp; eight great grandchildren, one brother, Ray Sauder, Lakewood, California; and many other relatives and friends.

Clifton, Gladys Wanita Cooper - Gladys Wanita (Cooper) Clifton was born April 29, 1912 at Langdon, Missouri. She was a member of the Rock Port Lutheran Church. On September 2, 1933, Gladys was united in marriage to Gordon O. Clifton. She loved her family and entertained them for Sunday dinner up to the time of her hip fracture. She was outgoing and never met a stranger; a good neighbor and friend. Her kind and loving ways will be missed by many. Gladys passed away early Thursday morning, March 12, 2009 at Tiffany Care Center, Mound City, Missouri at the age of 96 years.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Mary (Smith) Cooper; her son, Jan in 1988 and Gordon her husband of 60 years in 1993; sisters, Matie Christian, Hiebe Cooper and an infant brother.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Lois Deatz and husband, Paul of Mound City; three grandchildren, Michael Clifton and wife, Shirley of Tarkio, Missouri, Matthew Clifton and wife, Debi of Mound City, and Melinda Dudeck and husband, Mark of Oregon, Missouri; six great grandchildren, Brent and Bryce Clifton, Miles and Haylee Clifton, Andrew and Ben Dudeck; nieces, Phyllis Hollister, June Lynn and Lois Herron, all of Rock Port; great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Crabtree, Vera Edna Walker - Vera Edna (Walker) Crabtree, the daughter of Earle and Amy (Yates) Walker, was born in Burlington Junction, Missouri on March 14, 1912. She attended school at Burlington Junction, graduating in 1930. On March 19, 1932, Vera was united in marriage to Donald Crabtree in Burlington Junction. They made their home in Burlington Junction their entire married life. In 1997, Vera moved to the Fair Oaks senior housing in Rock Port, Missouri. In 2004, she became a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home where she lived to the present time. Vera passed away at Pleasant View on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the age of 97 years.

Vera was a member of the First Christian Church in Burlington Junction. She was also a member and former secretary of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, a member of the Burlington Junction Alumni Association, a past member of the Busy Body Club and a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing for the Hope Project, gardening, reading, cooking and baking. Her greatest love was raising her family and taking care of her home.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, their son Monte, one sister, Dorothy Hayes, one brother, Jack Walker and two grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Lois Baker of Shenandoah, Iowa; Paul Crabtree and his wife, Bonnie of Grand Junction, Colorado; Elwin Crabtree of Grand Lake, Colorado; Marvin Crabtree and his wife, Lynne of Peoria, Arizona; Amy Moore and her husband, Jerry of Rock Port, Missouri and Carol Crabtree of Independence, Missouri, sisters, Esther Barr, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Donna Jean Sallee, Chariton, Iowa. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.

Currie, Robert Ray "Bob" - Robert Ray (Bob) Currie, the son of John Edward and Dorothy May (Moore) Currie, was born, July 19, 1952 in Fairfax, Missouri. Bob graduated from Tarkio High School in 1970.

On Sept 2, 1978, Bob was united in marriage to Debbie Sybert and they became the parents of two children, Heather LeAnn and John Robert. They were later divorced.

Bob was active in the Boy Scouts and was awarded the Eagle Scout and the God And Country Award. He was also active in all phases of Rodeo since age eleven, especially enjoying bull riding, and had competed in professional rodeos throughout the United States and Canada. Bob was a faithful member of the Tarkio Christian Church, where he had served on several church boards. He enjoyed farming, livestock, going fishing at Yankton, South Dakota, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Bob owned a farm southeast of Tarkio which originally belonged to his great great-grandfather, Peter Currie. He lived on the family farm his entire life, and currently lived on an acreage on North 3rd St. that originally belonged to his great grandfather Robert Van Leuven. For years Bob owned a fleet of trucks and trailers and hauled grain and livestock. Bob passed away Tuesday February 16, 2010 at his residence in Tarkio at the age of 57 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his special friend Shannon Lee Roberts of the home Tarkio, daughter, Heather LeAnn Thompson and her husband Tim, Denver, Colorado, son, John Robert Currie, Beatrice, Nebraska; grandchildren, Wyatt J., DeLanye L. and Justice M. Currie; sister Patricia Rolofson and her husband Dean, Tarkio; nephew, Dr. Tyler Rolofson; cousin, Donna M. Payne and her husband Jess, Tarkio; Shannon’s children, Justin and Jacob Roberts.
