Louis 1 Missouri
A daughter, Sophia, was born 1871.
Family story states that the parents and a small child (would be Louis
since I have traced all the others) died in a cholera epidemic (probably
a flu epidemic)
about 1872. The children were then placed with relatives/friends.
I know that Sophia was sent to an uncle, Fred Lenthe in Grundy Co., Iowa.
She is on the 1880 census with him as niece. She is also on the 1885
census as niece, adopted.
Fred was Dorothea (Lenthe) Rosenbrook's brother.
Another relative mentioned the town of Phelps City.
Supposedly Claus and Dorothea's daughter, Mary, received $300 from her
father's estate around 1887-1890 when she lived in Nebraska, so there may
be a court record in Atchison Co., Missouri and Tabor Co., Nebraska.
