OBITUARY
DEATH OF MRS. SUSAN McDANIEL
Mrs. Susan McDaniel (nee Gwinn) was born in Saline County, Missouri, April 1st, 1826, and died at the residence of her son Vernile, in Atchison County, Missouri, March 31, 1909, age 83 years old.  She was married to her late husband, Mr. A.G. McDaniel, in Saline County, Missouri, March 14th, 1844.  To them were born ten children, one daughter and
nine sons.  Three of these are dead: the daughter, Mrs. Sarah Ann Brinegar, and two sons, Adolphus and Charles.  Five of the remaining sons, Ephriam, Kirk, Frank, Vernile and Robert were present at the funeral services; two, Emmet and William being absent.
   Mrs. McDaniel and her husband were among the early settlers of Atchison County, coming here in 1849.  She occupied the home place, opened up by her husband when they first came here, until a short time before her decease.
   Her funeral services were conducted by Elder R.M. Rhoades, and her remains were laid to rest by those of her husband, in the English Grove Cemetery. -Fairfax Forum
 
ATCHISON COUNTY MAIL 30 Nov 1894 Friday  OBITUARY OF REBECCA PIBURN PEBLY (Pyburn/Pebley)
Last Thursday morning the sad intelligence was received here that Mrs. Pebly had died the evening before.  She was widely known in Atchison and Holt Counties, and was held in the highest esteem by all who were intimately acquainted with her.
   Rebecca J. Pebly was born in Warren County, Mo. 14 July 1837 and died 21 Nov 1894 at 8:30 P.M.  Her maiden name was Piburn and she was married to Thomas Pebly on 22 Jan. 1856 in Clay Co., MO.  She survived her husband five years.
   The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Lane Douglass of Craig at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church today at 11:00 A.M. after which the remains were interred in the Campbell Cemetery. (This is now known as the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery)
 
 
OBITUARY OF HALLYE BYRN (FAIRFAX FORUM, 1992)
Hallye Mae Byrn of Maryville was born Nov. 25, 1898 at Fairfax, the daughter of Wilson Beck and Lura May Pebley Seymour and died Jan.7, 1992 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.
She graduated from Fairfax High School and attended Synodical College for Girls, Fulton.
She served as a WAC in World War II; was a receptionist for a physician in Chicago, Ill., until retiring. She was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion, a 50 year Eastern Star member at Fairfax Chapter No. 373.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include 4 nephews and 1 niece, Keith Seymour, Maryville; Dale Seymour, Fairfax; Blaine Seymour, Tarkio; Jason Seymour, Mellett, SD; Joan Goins, Arlington Heights, Ill.
Services were held at Price Funeral Home Maryville, conducted by Rev. Robert Ceperley. Burial was in
  Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax. Pallbears were Dale Seymour, Verlin Conrad, Keith Seymour, Blaine Seymour, Byron Bird.

   BARRET A. GREER    1903-1998
  TARKIO, Mo.--- Barret Angel Greer, 94, Tarkio, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at a hospital in Fairfax, Mo.
     Mr. Greer taught political science at a junior college in Norfolk, Neb., before moving back to Tarkio in the late 1930's.
     Born May 30, 1903, on the family farm in Westboro, Mo., he graduated from both Tarkio High School and Tarkio College, and received his M.S. from the University of Wisconsin.
     He was a member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church.
     Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents, Austin L. and Lillie E.
     SURVIVING: several cousins
     GRAVESIDE SERVICE AND BURIAL:  10a.m. Tuesday, Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro.  Visitation: after 9a.m. Monday, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.  No family visitation is scheduled.
 
ROWENA L. SMITH (Obituary-source unknown)
Rowena L. Smith of Portland died Sunday of complications from a stroke in a Portland area care center.  She was 79.
  She was born on Dec. 23, 1913, in Tarkio, Mo. She graduated from high school in Tarkio and attended one year of college.  Her maiden name was Sharp.  She married Floyd Smith in 1938 in Tarkio.
  After World War II, they moved to Buena, Wash., and then to the Pasco, Wash., area before moving to Portland in 1953.  Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of the Laurelhurst Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and had worked in the ward's library for 15 years.  She was a homemaker.
  Mr. Smith died in 1980.
  Survivors include daughters, Helen Meskel of Hoodsport, Wash., Donna Smith, Charlotte Presley and Sue AfterBuffalo, all of Portland; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
  A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Laurelhurst Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens.

OBITUARY: MISS JESSIE ANGEL (source unknown)

   Miss Jessie Angel, Tarkio, died May 31 at the Bethesda Care Center after a two-year illness.  She was 86.
  The daughter of Tom and Maffett (Chapman) Angel, she was born June 22, 1890 near Fairfax.  She lived in Tarkio all of her life.
  She attended rural schools in Atchison County.
  Miss Angel is survived by a niece, Mrs. Dorothy Wasmund, Oswego, Kan.
  Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m. June 3 at the Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim McFarland officiating. Interment was in the Tarkio Home Cemetery.
